Valentine’s Day ’25

15 February – 24 February (9 days)
Overall Meaning/Theme
Comic based on my experience going to the PerthMakersMarket’s twilight Valentine’s Day market.
Panel One
Frame one is set at the train station, interior. Rosie is on my way up the escalator while two young people stand near the entrance. They give her judgy looks. It makes her uncomfortable and further set up the mood for the night, after already going to a Valentine’s Day event alone.
Panel Two
Frame two is set on the train. There is a group of three; one older person, presumably a mother, and two younger kids, probably 15 or 16. It could only be assumed that they were going out for Valentine’s Day and being chaperoned. The young girl sat next to her mother, and the young boy was motioned to sit next to Rosie, opposite of them. He refused to and instead stood, only sitting when there was a seat with a gap from her.
Panel Three
Frame three, the walk from the city train station to the market. On the way there, there were so many happy couples walking together and it felt so out of place being alone.
Panel Four
Frame four is when she finally gets to the market. The tone is meant to be uplifted compared to the previous frames and show a good interaction with a stall holder. This seller compliments Rosie’s mane and necklace.
Panel Five
Final frame. This one depicts Rosie waiting for the train home after a successful evening out. It includes a look at all the items that she bought, including two bracelets, crochet flowers, an egg magnet, a sticker of some pomegranates, and eggshell earrings.
