Commission Terms of Service

Overview

Summarising the below information, the most important points for you, as a customer, to know and understand are:

• Commissions are only taken through forms
• All prices are in USD
• Half of the total price must be deposited before work begins
• Your commission may take up to one month to complete

Ensure that you have read and understood this entire page before commissioning and agreeing to these terms of service.

Definitions

Additional Character

An “additional character”, in the context of my commissions, refers to a second or subsequent character included within a single illustration or commission.

The base commission price includes one character unless otherwise stated in the relevant commission form or price sheet. Adding another character to the same illustration will incur an additional base fee, as well as complexity rating-based fee.

Each additional character will be treated as a separate character regarding pricing. Background characters, simplified figures, or other exceptions can be discussed and priced independently depending on their level of detail and relevace to the piece’s composition.

General

The terms listed below must all be agreed upon to commission me.
By commissioning me, you are agreeing that you have read, understood, and agreed to all terms listed.
These terms are eligible to be updated by me at any time, and the date above will be adjusted as such.

Ordering

When ordering, it is required that you fill out the appropriate commission form relative to the type of commission you are requesting.
I can refuse any commission for any reason.
Work and turnaround timer starts when the first payment is completed.

Payment

All prices are listed in USD.
Payment will be completed through PayPal.
Half of the total agreed upon price is required as a deposit before work begins. The second half will be paid after the final version is complete.
Payments under $10 will be made in full up-front.
Once work has begun on the commission your deposit is no longer refundable.

Turnaround

The turnaround time for commissions is expected to be within 1 month unless stated otherwise.
Delays are possible, and will be communicated within reasonable time, with an updated turnaround estimate.
Turnaround time begins once you make the first payment for your commission.
In the case that you have not received any updates on your commission within the estimated turnaround time, and you have not been made aware of any delays, you have the right to a refund.

Revisions

Revisions are changes requested by the client (you!) to an artwork after an update or draft has been provided. Revisions are divided into minor and major revisions depending on the scope of the requested changes.

Minor Revisions

Minor revisions are small adjustments that do not substantially change the artwork or require significant redrawing.
For example:

• Small changes to colours or markings
• Minor adjustments to facial features/expression
• Small changes to proportions/pose
• Minor adjustments to clothing & accessories

Major Revisions

Major revisions are substantial changes that require significant redrawing, restructuring, or reworking of the artwork.
For example:

• Significantly changing the pose
• Redesigning clothing
• Changing the character’s anatomy/body position
• Changing overall composition
• Significantly changing facial expressions

Once the sketch & colour has been completed, the client is entitled to one major revision and three minor revisions. These revisions should be requested together when possible and will only be valid for the time that the artwork is within this progress stage.

Requests exceeding the included revision limits, or revisions requested after the relevant stage has been approved may incur an additional fee based on the request.

Character Design Complexity

Character design complexity is determined by the amount of detail, visual elements, and rendering work required to accurately depict the character. Additional fees may apply depending on the complexity of each character included in a commission.

Tier 1 – Simple +$0

Characters with simple designs, minimal clothing accessories, and limited visual detail.

Tier 2 – Moderate +$10

Characters with moderately detailed clothing, hairstyles, accessories, markings, or other design elements.

Tier 3 – Complex +$25

Characters with highly detailed outfits, multiple accessories, intricate markings, elaborate hairstyles, armour, weapons, or other time-intensive design elements.

Tier 4 – Highly Complex +$40+

Characters with exceptionally intricate designs, extensive armour or mech elements, highly detailed costumes, lots of accessories, or other design elements requiring significantly more time to work on.

These prices are additional fees per character and are separate from the base commission price. The applicable tier will be determined based on the character reference provided and the amount of work required. If a character falls between tiers or requires an unusual amount of work, the final additional fee will be discussed and agreed upon before work begins.

Deliverables

The deliverables provided through commissioning me vary between commission types, however it is possible for commissions to be as follows:

• Created & delivered at any canvas dimensions. If none are specified, the default canvas size being used is 5600 x 4000 pixels, or 4000 x 4000, with 600 ppi.
• Created & delivered at a size suitable for print (specify in your form that you would like this, specify what dimensions if applicable.).
• Created & delivered as an image with a transparent background ready for sticker or keychain print (specify this within your form too.).

Your final artwork can be sent to you through any means (e.g. Email). This will be discussed privately per person.

Cancellations

If you cancel before work has started, you are eligible for a full refund.
If I cancel the commission, you will receive a full refund.

Copyright & Usage

I retain copyright of the artworks created.
I may post the artwork on my social media pages or use it in work portfolios.
You can use the artwork for personal use, such as social media profile pictures, banners, etc.
You do not have the right to claim the artwork as your own.
Commercial uses can be discussed.

Agreements

By commissioning me, you are acknowledging that you have read, understood, and agreed to the above terms.
